Copped Hall
11 November 2024
Copped Hall near Epping Forest, has some photogenic folly’s and ruins in the grounds which we photographed after dark. On a completely dark night, we all took images using torches, lanterns and light strips to illuminate our subject. The samples below include the follies in the gardens, the main house and the dark cellars below the house. For nearly all of us, this was the first time we had attempted anything like this.
Covent Garden
19 October 2024
A nighttime visit to Covent Garden gave us the opportunity to photograph some of the great scenes and architecture of this London landmark.
Arriving at dusk, a group of us wandered around the area taking photographs of the buildings and the people.
A little later, we gathered in the Cafe of the Royal Opera House for coffee and a great social evening.
Tower Bridge
2 July 2023
On Sunday, 2 July we went as a group to visit the Tower Bridge Exhibition where we were given a guided tour of the whole bridge including accessing the towers and the engine rooms.
Our tour gave us the opportunity to photograph the bridge from the outside and the inside including a walk between the towers which has a glass floor allowing you to look down to the river and the road beneath.
London Night Photography
26 September 2022
Monday 26th September was our second attempt at night photography, and this time, the rain gods were good to us. On a fine evening we set out from Parliament Square and made our way along the Embankment, across Westminster Bridge and finishing up at Waterloo Station. The evening was run by Katrina from Photography Tours at Night who guided us to great 'spots for shots' whilst giving advice on camera settings and photo opportunities.
London Night Photography
6 April 2022
On Wednesday 6th April our intrepid members set off from their comfortable bases to meet up in front of the National Theatre to take part in a Photo Workshop with the prime aim of taking some amazing images. Alas the weather god had other ideas and from a light shower it became a monsoon and we only made it as far as Waterloo Bridge, but we'll rearrange soon.
Crossness Victorian Pumping Station
19 March 2022
On Saturday 19th March 2022 we enjoyed a club outing to Crossness Pumping Station. The volunteers there made us very welcome and told us a bit about the history before letting us have the run of the place for a full four hours. The volunteers really understood what we would want as photographers and gave us a lot of help.
